22 Healthy Habits for 2022!

Do you have any new goals for the New Year? Or ones you’ve already set and are working toward?  After WLS, there are often many goals that we want to reach along our journey. One of the best ways to reach them is to create habits that will little-by-little help you achieve them.  These can be simple daily routines like taking your vitamins every morning or ones that are more involved like meal prepping once a week.  Want some inspiration?

Pick 1 or 2 habits that you could add!

  1. Include protein at every meal and snack. 
  2. Get enough sleep. 
  3. Take your bariatric vitamins every day. 
  4. Move your body while taking breaks during the day – like taking a short walk –  to rejuvenate your mind and body. 
  5. Take time away from the online world. For example, put your phone away after a certain time every day. 
  6. Set reminders for important tasks to keep you on track, like drinking enough fluids during the day or reminding yourself to eat. 
  7. Offer encouragement to others. 
  8. Learn something new!  Do you want to dance, sing, build things, garden, fix your car, play an instrument, survive in the wilderness, etc?  Do it!
  9. Start and end your day with an attitude of gratitude. 
  10. Plan healthy meals and snacks
  11. Have your blood tests done every year. 
  12. Get outside!  Even if the weather isn’t the best, you can always bundle up or put on your rain gear. 
  13. Try new recipes and new foods!  
  14. Aim to be active every day, whether you’re shooting for a certain number of steps or a set amount of time. 
  15. Connect with your community. When was the last time you sent a hand-written note to someone or had tea together (even online)? 
  16. Keep your stress levels in check.  
  17. Ask for help when you need it. 
  18. Don’t be afraid to say no, and don’t be afraid to say yes! 
  19. Wear clothes you feel good in.  This includes if you are working from home! 
  20. Surround yourself with supportive people. 
  21. Celebrate non-scale victories.
  22. Be true to yourself!
